Forty kilometres, and one junction that decides
Forty kilometres, forty minutes: the motorway covers most of it, and the end is what counts. The climb to Grasse uses the RD6185, the Cannes - Grasse penetrating road, which the Alpes-Maritimes department describes as the only north-south fast road in the sector, carrying more than 39,000 vehicles a day.
The same document names the break point. Both Grasse exits from that road, the Rouquier interchange and the terminal junction, feed into the Quatre Chemins junction, called the major road black spot of the town and reported as reaching its saturation threshold daily.
The previous exit downstream is Mouans-Sartoux, whose town centre crossing is limited to a 30 km/h zone. Going round the bottom does not cost kilometres, it costs minutes. Those are the only real variables on this run, and they play out over the last eight kilometres.
The train does not go there in one go
This is an honest comparison to make before talking about price. The railway line exists, it is called Grasse - Cannes - Nice - Ventimiglia, and it offers no direct service between Nice and Grasse: the change at Cannes is compulsory. Grasse to Cannes takes 28 minutes, Cannes to Grasse 25 minutes, plus the connection and the leg out of the airport.
The current official timetable adds two windows worth knowing: the Cannes - Grasse section is closed for engineering work from 14 to 20 September 2026, then on 5 and 6 December 2026. On those days the switch to the road is automatic, and it is better known before a ticket is bought.
A perfumery visit is not timed at random
The town publishes the existence of a network of public car parks, regulated zones and free time-limited bays, paid through an app or online. Two municipal structures are run in direct management, Notre-Dame-des-Fleurs and La Roque. The capacities and free periods that circulate on directory sites do not appear on the municipal pages we opened, so we do not publish them.
What we know from the ground comes down to one rule: a day in Grasse rarely has a single stop. Visit, lunch, shop, return. Two separate transfers three hours apart cost more than a half day of hourly hire and leave the client without a car in between. We say so at booking, before the fare is chosen.
