The company

Who drives, since when, and with what network

Explore Riviera is the trading name of a sole trader based in Nice, run by its founder, a chauffeur since 2017. One vehicle is owned outright, the Mercedes V-Class van; other categories come through a network of selected partner chauffeurs. The French professional chauffeur licence dates from 2020.

What the alternatives do, and where they stop

A taxi is hailed in the street and paid by the meter. A chauffeur service cannot ply for hire: booking in advance is a legal obligation in France, not a commercial preference. That constraint has a useful flip side for the passenger, and it is the whole point of this business: because the journey is booked, it can be priced first.

A ride-hailing platform also quotes, but its price follows the hour and the demand, and the car is assigned minutes before pick-up. The coastal train and the coach network are serious and often enough, up to a certain time in the evening. Each of those has its case, and those cases are named on the relevant pages rather than buried.

Once you remove them, what is left fits in a line: a price announced before, held afterwards, over ground that is genuinely known.

The record, without a single name

Before the car came the kerb: running a valet service at Nice airport, which is exactly where you learn how many minutes a bad drop-off point costs. Then running a car concierge business handling prestige and collector vehicles, which is where you learn what a client expects from a car he did not choose himself.

A chauffeur since 2017, including several years on the Cannes to Saint-Tropez axis for established limousine houses. Assignments for leading Parisian couture houses. Work for five-star hotels in Cannes, Juan-les-Pins and Sophia Antipolis. A 2023 assignment as exclusive chauffeur to the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, at Cap d’Antibes.

None of those clients is named, and that is not editorial coyness. A chauffeur who quotes his passengers has already committed the one mistake he is hired never to make. It is also why this site carries no reference logos, no testimonials and no aggregate rating.

What the word we covers

A sole trader, in Nice, with no employees. One vehicle owned: the V-Class XL. For everything else, a network of partner chauffeurs and concierges, selected one at a time, called on when two journeys land at the same hour or when the category requested is not the van.

Clearance for the business aviation terminal at Nice Cote d’Azur airport is the part that transfers least easily: it is issued to a named person, it lets the car come to the aircraft, and very few operations of this size on the Riviera can claim it.

The area covered runs from the Alpes-Maritimes to Monaco, the Var, Provence, northern Italy, Switzerland and the Alps. Above 400 EUR or 250 kilometres, the price stops being automatic and becomes a quotation. That is the limit, and it is written down.

Before you arrive

Your questions.

How many vehicles do you own?

One, the Mercedes V-Class XL van. Sedans and exceptional vehicles come from a network of selected partner chauffeurs and concierges. The word we describes that arrangement, never an owned fleet, and no photograph on this site suggests otherwise.

Why does no client name appear on this site?

Because discretion is the product, not an extra. No passenger, no house and no property is listed as a reference. The single exception is a 2023 assignment as exclusive chauffeur to the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, which describes a role rather than a person.

How long have you been doing this?

Since 2017 as a chauffeur, with several tens of thousands of journeys completed since then. The French professional chauffeur licence was obtained in 2020, and clearance for the business aviation terminal at Nice completes the picture.

Do you speak English on board?

French and English, with no intermediary and no translation app. That is an operational requirement as much as a comfort: on a crew transfer or a planeside collection, the exchanges with the handler happen in English and leave no room for approximation.

What is the legal entity behind Explore Riviera?

Explore Riviera is a trading name. The entity is a sole trader registered with the Nice commercial court, with no employees, subject to 10% VAT on passenger transport. The legal notice page carries the full set of identifiers.
