A light that is red by default, and only opens at thirty
The device is unusual, and the council describes it word for word: the lights at the junction of the RD 2210 and rue des Anciens Combattants are set to stay red when no vehicle is present, and switch to green when the speed of approaching traffic falls below the legal limit, which is 30 km/h. They have been running since 21 June 2024.
The order of events matters. This is not a light that punishes speed by turning red; it is a closed light that opens for those who slow down. The difference sounds subtle. Behind the wheel it is not. A driver in a hurry sits still; a driver who lifts off goes through.
For a transfer, the consequence is that crossing the village costs time by design, and that the cost is predictable. The thirty-two minutes quoted from the airport hold as long as you know the last stretch is not driven at ordinary main-road pace.
The council itself calls two approaches narrow
It is the commune, not a driver, that lists two of its free car parks under the heading of car access by narrow lanes: route de Saint-Jean beside the chapel, and La Ferrage below the Bastide aux Violettes.
A clearance fact stated by an official source is rare enough to be used as it stands. It sets the rule of engagement: with a van you do not attempt those two approaches, you fall back on place de la Madeleine.
That car park is free, 300 metres from the centre, linked to the village by a paying Envibus shuttle, and it reserves four coach bays. It is the natural anchor for a group. The shuttle times displayed on the municipal page date from an old season: we do not publish them, and we do not replace them with a guess.
Thirty free minutes at the closest point to the gate
In the middle of place de la Libération, an enclosed paying car park offers thirty free minutes. Around it, the blue zone allows ninety minutes with a disc, every day from 9 am to 7 pm, on the Barbacane sector, the western carriageway and the frontage of the Tajasque garden.
It is the most comfortable margin among the neighbouring villages, and it changes how a drop-off runs: thirty minutes are enough to unload the bags, walk a passenger to the village gate and leave without watching a meter.
Then there is what we will not do, and it is better said plainly. On a weekend in late February or early March, the violet festival suspends the route through the village: no parking on the RD 2210, diversions, free shuttles from outside, accredited coaches only. On those days no close drop-off exists, and promising one would be selling a run that cannot happen. The 2026 edition is announced for 28 February and 1 March.
