Thirty-seven kilometres past Moûtiers, and nothing beyond
The number that matters is not the total distance from the Riviera, it is the last section. Route measurement gives about 37.7 kilometres and forty minutes between Moûtiers and the resort, via the D990, the D915 and the D117. It is the longest of the three climbs out of that valley.
That road is also the only one. It serves Saint-Martin, Les Menuires and then the resort at the head of the valley: no parallel route, no bypass, no diversion. A slow stretch is endured from the first kilometre to the last. Which is why a winter transfer is planned backwards from the arrival time you want, not forwards from a departure time.
Street parking is banned, dropping off is not
The commune of Les Belleville says it plainly: parking banned in the streets, regulated in five covered and open car parks, roughly 3,500 spaces. It is the only place in this group where the rule is set by the commune itself, in one sentence.
For a transfer the consequence is clean. The vehicle stops, unloads, moves on to a car park. It does not sit outside the residence while everyone finds their keys. A driver who knows the resort plans the drop-off accordingly: bags out first, passengers after.
At Les Menuires, in the same commune, the rule runs the other way: the municipal page describes parking as generally free, except at the Croisette and Les Bruyères car parks.
What to tell us before departure
Three pieces of information genuinely change the job. The name of the residence or hotel, because the resort is long and there is no single drop-off point. The luggage volume, ski bags included, because it decides the vehicle and sometimes the roof box. The time you want to arrive, because that sets the departure time rather than the other way round.
A fourth, less obvious: tell us whether you have already booked a parking space. We publish no booking obligation, for lack of an open official source, but if you hold one, the meeting point is already settled.
