Forty-seven spaces for an entire headland
That number organises the whole day. The Pointe du Crouton car park, on boulevard Maréchal Juin, is the only public parking on the eastern side of the headland. It holds 47 spaces and becomes chargeable from 1 July to 31 August.
Forty-seven spaces for a whole peninsula, in July, means one thing: the car does not stay. It drops off, it goes back down, it comes up again on call. That is not an added service, it is the only workable arrangement between 1 July and 31 August. It is agreed when you book, with a pick-up time and a named meeting point.
On the width of the lanes, no public source gives a figure or a municipal order. So we publish none. What can be checked gets said; what cannot be checked does not.
The coastal path closes in heavy weather
The coastal path starts from the Garoupe beach car park on avenue André Sella and comes out on avenue Mrs L. D. Beaumont, near avenue Tour Gandolphe. Five kilometres, roughly two hours. The tourist office notes that the path is closed when the weather is too rough.
That single line changes the logistics of a morning. A guest dropped at one end does not necessarily come out at the other. When the wind gets up, the pick-up returns to the starting point, and it is better to have planned for that than to work it out at noon over the phone.
A little further on, the Villa Eilenroc and its 11-hectare grounds, laid out in 1867 to plans by Charles Garnier, close to the public for the whole of August because of fire risk. Here again, the date matters more than the address.
One town code, three different fares
The headland shares its municipal code with the town centre and with Juan-les-Pins. It does not share their price. The centre is 22 km from the airport, Juan-les-Pins 24 km, and the headland 26 km: three distances, so three different fares.
Many booking tools reason by town code and then display the lowest of the three. Ours reasons by address. That is less impressive than a headline price, and it avoids the unpleasant correction at the moment of payment.
