The Iseran pass closes, and the route changes
This is the fact that governs everything else. The Iseran pass is closed in winter. The resort is then reachable only from the north: Albertville, Moûtiers, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then the RD902.
Routing software that ignores the closure will happily propose the pass, because it cuts the distance sharply from the south-east. That road does not exist between December and April. It is exactly the kind of error that turns an estimate into a promise nobody can keep, which is why a winter run is planned on a forced route rather than on the first line a map draws.
The final section is short and slow: route measurement gives about 31.6 kilometres and forty minutes from Bourg-Saint-Maurice, via the D1090 then the D902.
Nine streets where pedestrians come first
The town hall publishes its traffic regime, and it is not the one people expect. There is no closed pedestrian zone. Speed is capped at 30 km/h across the built-up area, and nine streets are classed as shared-space zones at 20 km/h where pedestrians have priority: rue Nicolas Bazile, rue de l’Église, rue de la Galise, rue de la Poste, rue de la Grande Ourse, rue des Leissières, route de la Balme, rue du Joseray and montée de Bellevue.
A driver may therefore enter, at walking pace. What a driver may not do is leave the car there: the same page bans parking on bus stops, pavements and pedestrian squares, and states a 35 euro fine in the blue zone.
The detail that sets the drop-off point
Here is what an experienced driver checks before leaving: the street name, not the name of the building. If the address falls in one of the nine shared-space streets, the drop-off happens as close as possible but without a long stop, bags out before passengers. If it falls elsewhere, an ordinary stop is enough.
Two admitted limits. Headroom in the covered car parks is not published by the commune, so we do not quote it. And the municipal page carries a line mentioning 70 km/h inside car parks, plainly a typing error: we publish nothing based on it.
